New Year/ New Kitchen

Happy 2013!

Here's to a better year than last, which shouldn't be hard because 2012 pretty much blew big fat chunks everywhere.

I hope everyone had an awesome 4-day weekend. We certainly put ours to good use, and as a result we almost have a kitchen!

The Result

Mr. Squatter did an absolutely AMAZING job on my new butcher block- topped counter. I still need to sand and stain it, but it is functional as is and I am thrilled. In the "result" picture you can also see a hint of "brick" pre-painting, and the new and improved copper pipe pot rack (based on the one Josh made for Lexington when he knocked out the cupboards over the stove):

Old Kitchen
The current one is made from 1" pipe and marked the beginning of The Mister's adventures in welding. It is stunning. Having it up even inspired us to finally go to Lexington (or "Old Home," as I have taken to calling it), and picking up our pots and pans. Now I have a real kitchen, as well as stuff to cook in! Crazy!

That's all I have to share for now, though there's plenty more in the works. Every day we get a little more done, and every day it feels a little more like home. We both really love it here, and agree that it is our favorite of the places either of us has lived, together or separately. The Squat is starting to become glorious.
