A Post for Corey

Corey asks, I deliver, so here's a quick morning update. I didn't have my camera with me last night, so you'll have to use your imaginations.

I spent yesterday packing at the Lexington house, then met Josh at the Squat when he got off work. Remember this poorly constructed door frame shelving in the "kitchen?"

Well, tearing it apart and knocking the frame off was quite enjoyable. Mr. Squatter also pried off the chair rail and weird shelf support things in the corner. We now have a flat white wall ready for this:

Lack of existing brick is NOT going to stop me from having an exposed brick wall in my kitchen!

Last week I spent about about an hour scraping through the many layers of paint on this door in the hallway.

OOPS!

I was doing a pretty great job when it suddenly occurred to me that the bottom layers are most likely lead-based paint, and now I'm probably dying. This project is literally killing me.

In happy news, when we left the Squat on Sunday night we left our new infrared heater on. When I arrived yesterday, the whole place was nice and toasty. Warmth was one of my biggest concerns about the place, so this was a huge relief. If you need a great heater, get one of these:

The back rooms are 99% finished, or at least move-in ready. This means that by next weekend we will be official Squatters. I'm terrified. Also, let this be a warning to avoid us for the next week or so, as otherwise you will be guilted into helping us move.

And now I will leave you with a picture of our living room at the Belmont duplex, a lifetime ago.
